this makes me want to visit London again!!

some of u may know that i am a bit obsessed with BeautyCrush's YouTube channel.  I have been obsessively trying to get the bf to go to London with me, but he has declined b/c he thinks I will spend all of my time shopping...i mean, really. needless to say, Sammi's video has me thinking of planning a trip for my b'day in October :)

Beyonce's "Run The World [Girls]" video [official video attached]: my biased review

ok, so I am actually a Beyonce fan.  I am not a "stan" however, a "stalker fan" who thinks that everything she does is amazing.

The thing is that I prefer an edgy, relatable, bad ass type of artist, such as Rihanna b/c I feel like she comes off as more genuine and relatable, TO ME. that being said, I am not in any way, taking away from the bad bish that Beyonce is--she is beautiful and is a true diva, no one of our era is more of a show woman, i generally love all of her songs and will sing along and dance to them. period. i just think her carefully crafted "good, wholesome girl" image is  more than a bit boring and can come off as disingenuous, even with her attempts to "harden" it up--she's obviously gotten the memo that we want more edge, a la Gaga and Rih :) also, i do not think that she is well spoken, she often sounds uneducated to me, this could be b/c she is Southern. the previous sentence may offend some. *shrug*

so, the video: I FUKKIN LOVE IT. it's hard and fast paced. the upper body gyrations are SICK. the dancing on her toes with the guys in the opener amazing. the yellow dress scene, the ass shaking, i mean really, she did it. & did it well. CLAPS FOR HER!!

but i do think that the song is kind of lacking in substance. she should've come harder. more lyrical content. that's all i'm saying. ask yourself would u play this song on your ipod when getting ready to go out with the girls? my answer is NO. the message, though, is resounding, i love it. "Who run the world? GIRLS."

u be the judge! tell me how u see it!!

Stiletto Chic is now on YouTube!

i've been toying with the idea of doing a youtube channel for like 6 months. generally what kept me away was that it all seems a bit indulgent. people viewing and scrutinizing. i can take it in real life, i'm pretty tough. so i decided to just do it, it also seems fun! i love NiaSays, beautycrush, ThePersian babe & julesTrufin channels so i just did it b/c I've learned so much from them--for the love of fashion, you could say!

the two videos up were done at least 6 months ago, so excuse the lighting; i will be posting new ones with better quality with the cam :)  so expect tons of HAULS, Wardrobe Staples / Favorite Items & über SHOE PORN!!

please comment, rate, subscribe, loves!

forever 21 über petite haul

i saw this black feather necklace online, then it disappeared. i was so disappointed, it was the perfect feather necklace for me: black & i love the leather woven through the chain! i had not found one that i liked, all of the others i'd seen elsewhere were too busy, too many feathers, chains, fringe, etc. --just too much, and too brown. tracked this one down at the lincoln park f21, by giving them the item code of a similar item and a really awesome guy was able to find it with the description i gave! it was the last one, how lucky :)

this scarf i love. i saw a fellow blogger wearing one from H&M colored in mostly blue and wanted it. but since i cannot control myself in H&M, i haven't been in. & the bf will flip is i buy more stuff when we are planning to decorate and take our annual couple trip ;) this scarf is a good holdover :)

be sure to check back in for [not so petite] forever 21, asos, & miss selfridge hauls within the week!!

Beyonce Names New Album 4 + Run The World [Girls] Video Teaser

Beyonce slated to release new album, titled 4 soon.  I haven't seen a release date, but it has been said that she has recored 72 tracks already to be sent the her record label.

Some may wonder why "4"? Other artists to use number titled albums include Adele, Prince, Omarion to name a few, so Bey's number choice is not so odd.  The number "4" has great significance to her as she & hubby Jay Z were born on the 4th of the month. She on 9.4, he on 11.4, they got hitched 4.4; she has roman numeral IV tattooed on her ring finger. I have also heard that her mother's birthday is on the 4th of the month.

So, I am Beyonce fan.  I am not a Beyonce "stan," the kind of "stalker fan" that is obsessed, and will fight people who don't blindly worship her; i will and do throw shade at her at times.

Everything she does is not good, I'm an honest Bey fan.  Speaking of not good, "Run the World [Girls]" song released in April sucks [video was slated to be released 5.13, has been pushed back]. Sucks. Sucks. Check the numbers, this song has majorly flopped.

I mean, really Bey, this is what u put out after this long lapse of silence? The "Girls" video though, is bad ass, from what I saw in the teaser, I just wish that the song itself was stronger!!

Come harder, in your own words. When you have competition like LADY GAGA, on MEGA MEGA MEGA SUPERSTAR LEVEL [lovessss her, she is dynamic & obviously loves her fans], Rihanna [now i lovesssss her to the umpteenth power, she is very relatable] continually blazing her trail, gaining huge popularity, getting endorsements, holding the crown as the COOL artist, the one that everyone wants to dress like, Katy Perry marketing herself to a wider audience with songs with Snoop, Kanye. ...i mean, really, this is what u put out? We want something that's genuine and goes back to your roots, Bey. Come on, now. I'm bored.  The "Move Your Body" vid is more exciting, and received more press that "Girls!"

Don't disappoint us, Bey--we need a good album from you. Don't flop.
check out Beyonce Daily for the scoop on all things Bey!

Block That Color! Color Blocking 101

Color blocking is a game of sorts; think of it as your chance to mix and match otherwise ridiculous shades together to create neon perfection!  You can chose to go with articles of clothing that literally feature “blocked” color, sections of varying shades, as seen here:

Or, you can get creative and put together pieces of different colors to create a color blocking effect, worn below by Camille Bell and seen below in Jill Sander & Max Mara’s Spring 2011 collections.

To get this look, minus the runway, keep these tips in mind:

1.   More Than Three’s a Crowd
Stick with two or three colors, three is preferred as it is more interesting and  creates more contrast in comparison to two colors.

2.    Clash Away
Remember, that the normal rules no longer apply, so pair together colors that you normally would not.  Pinks, deep purples paired with orange; yellow and teal; magenta, orange, and ultramarine blue together are my favorite color combination.

3.    Family Ties
Feel free to contrast two tonal variations with a contrasting jarring shade, such as the aforementioned pink, purple or teal and deep blue. It will be perfection!

4.    Be Colorful & Proud
The point is to keep it vivid and bright, so no dark tones.

5.    Accessorize to a Bare Minimum
If accessorizes must be added, go simple and neutral; break up the colors with neutral belts/bags such as cream, grey, or tan.  Do not attempt to integrate patterns…No.  Ever.

take a look at my polyvore here for some toned down color blocked looks!

Rihanna in Stella McCartney

Rihanna attending the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 2 in NYC.  Hair, earrings, makeup = LOVE. Dress is ok, it just looks so black, she's usu. in color, but it's not bad though, I love Stella's designs usu; the shoes are iffy, they're just a bit off somehow. maybe should've went this a t-strap in nude, maybe?

what i wore. nastygal boho + fringe

as u can tell, these boots are my favorite ones so i wear them allllllll the time. & i've broken them in completely, so i love 'em even more. thx, JC for making shoes that make my life more awesome ;)

anywho, how gorg is it out today?! 6 hrs of work today, which is a real treat, i dress how i feel so this was the perfect dress for today! i cannot explain to u how ME this dress is! it's everything i love: black, sheer, flirty, girly & original. the back, I LOVE THE SHEER BACK. i have on a black tube dress underneath, mine had attachable straps which i use [got from F21], b/c these boobies cannot go rogue, they need support that strapless contraptions cannot provide.

for me, heels are a must when i wear this--heels are usu. a must for everything, i'm 5' so....this is one of my favorite necklaces. the perfect boho accessory, it completes any outfit. though about big earrings at first, no necklace, cuz u know how i love 'em, but it looks heavy, like i was trying to hard--plus i feel like wearing easy accs. my earrings can be kind of heavy. don't feel like that today.

why am i rambling?
enjoy this ah mazing weather!!

dress: nastygal
boots: JC
necklace: Lori's
jacket: F21
